ABOUT WBCS EXAM:
West Bengal Civil Service is popularly known as W.B.C.S. is
conducted by the Public Service Commission of West Bengal every year. It is a dream
job for an aspirant living in West Bengal and the highest valued job under the
West Bengal Government. It was founded in 1988. After successful completion of
the exam and training, one joins as Deputy Magistrate (DM), Deputy Collector
(DC), and Block Development (B.D.O.) Officers in the State. It is one of the best positions to serve common people with dignity. The exam will be
conducted for Group A, B, C, and D. The exam is conducted by the West Bengal
Public Service Commission (WBPSC). The exam is consist of three phases and
these are
- Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
- Main Examination (Both Objective and Conventional Type)
- Personality Test (Interview)
The preliminary exam is only qualifying for the Mains exams. The Main exam and Personality Test will be counted for your final selection process.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA, QUALIFICATION & AGE LIMIT:
- A citizen of India
- Ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (not required for those candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali)
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:
Graduation degree from a recognized
University.
WBCS AGE LIMIT:
Age will be calculated on 1st,
January in the exam year. For example, if you are applying for WBCS 2020 then
your age will be calculated on 01-01-2020. Find the age limit for a different
category.

HOW TO APPLY FOR WBCS EXAM?
Once the notification is released you can apply for the exam
through the official website. If you
are an existing registered user then use the credential to log in to the portal or
else you can register yourself. Once you logged in to the official website, you
can find the exams list for the application. There is a list of things that
need to keep ready before the application process.

email address
● Recent
scan copy of your photo
● Scan a copy
of your signature
● Marksheet
of all your exams (If the result is not in percentage then follow your board
rules and calculate the percentage marks in advance.)
● Once you
completed the application please keep the application in PDF form for future
use, anyways you can download the application at any time with the registered
id and password.
EXAM CENTER FOR WBCS:
The preliminary exam is organized in
various districts of West Bengal. The main exam will be held only
in Kolkata.

QUALIFYING MARKS FOR WBCS PRELIMINARY EXAM:
For preliminary exams, you need to
prepare eight sections and each section of 25 marks. So, the total marks in the preliminary exam of 200 marks in two and a half hours (2 hours and 30 minutes).
There is no sectional cut off and this only qualifies for the WBCS Main Exam
in nature. The marks obtained in the preliminary will not be considered in the
final selection process. Following the trends of previous years cut-off
history, it is around 50 to 55 percent which is 100 to 110. It can be said that
the safe zone is 120 marks. The questions paper of preliminary will be in
bilingual (English and Bengali) but the main exam will be in the English language only.
